Carson Peak is located at the south end of the June Lake Loop which is about 12 miles south of Mono Lake and about 8 miles north of Mammoth. Carson Peak can be attempted as a dayhike/dayclimb since one can park at the base of the peak. That doesn't guarantee summiting however and keeping track of turnaround time is a necessity.
